Dutch materials supplier doubling capacity for cross-linking peroxides at Ningbo site
Ningbo, China – Nouryon is expanding its production capacity for organic peroxides in China to support ‘growing regional and global demand’.
The Dutch materials supplier will invest an undisclosed amount in its facility in Ningbo to double manufacturing capacity for its Perkadox 14 and Trigonox 101 products.
Set for completion in mid-2024, the project will increase the plant’s nameplate capacity to 6 kilotonnes per annum, Nouryon said 27 April.
“Asia Pacific is a key region for Nouryon, and China plays an important role in our growth journey,” said Johan Landfors, EVP strategy and technology solutions.
The investment, he went on to say, will support Nouryon’s “growing customer demand.”
According to Nouryon, the peroxides are used in a wide range of rubber goods, such as hoses, seals, cable insulation and shoe soles.
Other applications include in recycling, as both products can be used to enhance the properties of recycled propylene-based polymers.
This feature, Nouryon explained, enables customers to use recycled polymer in applications previously “only accessible to virgin materials”.
