Formerra acquires Irish medical polymers supplier TPS

Romeoville, Illinois - Formerra, a US-based supplier of materials to the medical devices & equipment industry, has acquired Irish distributor Total Polymer Solutions (TPS).

TPS serves markets in Ireland, the UK, and continental Europe and has worked with Formerra for over a decade, serving multinationals in the healthcare sector, said their 4 April announcement .

Romeoville-based Formerra, formerly Avient Distribution, provides medical OEMs with application-development, materials expertise and supply-chain support. 

Owned by private equity firm HIG Capital, the US company’s portfolio encompasses thermoplastics, silicones and elastomeric materials, including TPEs and TPVs.

Dublin-based TPS, which was founded in 2002, has eight staff and lists TPEs and PVC compounds among its medical materials offerings. 

TPS co-founders and owners Ronan Kennedy and Eamonn Keane are to join the Formerra team and “remain invested in the business” going forward.

The deal "enables us to better serve our global healthcare customers in Europe with streamlined supply-chain management," commented Cathy Dodd, CEO of Formerra. 

Within Formerra, “we can create greater benefits for our customers by leveraging our combined strengths,” Keane and Kennedy added in a joint comment for the Formerra release.
