Italian tire maker also eyes FIA’s Formula 2 and Formula 3 series
Milan, Italy – Pirelli & C. SpA has expressed its interest in taking part in the tender process for the FIA Formula 1, 2 and 3 series, to be held next year.
In a statement 22 March, the Italian tire maker stated that the FIA had published the invitation to participate in the next tender process for the supply of tires to the top single-seater championships.
The tender is for the three-year period from 2025 to 2027 with an option for 2028.
According to Pirelli, the document outlines technical characteristics that are “broadly in line” with the tires used today.
The technical properties are relevant to technology transfer from track to road, putting a particular emphasis on sustainability, the tire maker added.
“The framework described by the FIA is closely aligned to Pirelli’s motorsport strategy and so is of great interest,” it added.
The Italian company has been the tire partner to the sport since 2011.
Pirelli said a definitive decision about participation in the selection process would be made “after a detailed examination of the FIA’s document”.
