Japanese group unveils 'Enliten business strategy', particularly targeting electric vehicles
Tokyo – Bridgestone Corp. has introduced a new business strategy to significantly increase the employment of Enliten technology in the production of both passenger car and truck & bus tires.
For passenger car tires, the Enliten tire technology platform brings "greater mileage and improvement in rolling resistance in tires", according to a statement provided by Bridgestone to ERJ.
In total, Bridgestone said it is targeting 90% of its consumer replacement products to feature Enliten by 2030.
The production expansion, Bridgestone said, has started from Europe with the Turanza 6 and Duravis Van products.
Here, it explained that its recent Turanza 6 tire, equipped with Enliten technology, delivers 22% greater mileage and 4% lower rolling resistance compared to its predecessor.
“These features result in a low rolling resistance tire that provides enhanced sustainability through reduced fuel or EV battery usage,” the company told ERJ in a statement.
Bridgestone did not provide further details about the new strategy, but according to its annual results statement 16 Feb, the Japanese group is also extending the technology to the truck & bus segment.
This includes the introduction of up to 90 new products for the market by 2030.
The Enliten technology can be applied on all tires including those for internal combustion engine, hybrid, or electric vehicles.
This, said Bridgestone, ensures all tires are “fully EV-ready”.
