Goteborg, Sweden – Swedish vehicle maker Volvo Group has created a joint-venture start-up, which will offer automated tire pressure monitoring system (TMPS) for heavy-duty vehicles.
Fyrqom has been formed in partnership with technology company Qamcom Group and Volvo group engineer and inventor Roman Iustin, explained a 25 Oct Volvo statement .
The start-up has been formed in light of the EU legal demand for all trucks and trailers to have TPMS systems by 2024.
Today, according to Volvo, the TPMS must be calibrated manually on every truck when they are built and when a tire is changed in a workshop.
Volvo engineer Roman Iustin developed a more efficient process with an automated calibration system, said the company announcement.
According to the statement, as the solution was slightly outside the group’s business, Volvo decided to spin out the project into a new venture, to be led by Iustin.
The group statement did not elaborate further on the technical details of the TPMS solution.
