Manufactured at Port Jerome, France, product designed for consumer rubber applications, food & water contact
Boston, Massachusetts – Cabot Corp. has launched a new low polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) carbon black product for rubber applications, the company has announced.
Vulcan 3-LP carbon black is the fourth product in the Cabot LP carbon black series which is designed for applications that require a controlled, very low PAH content.
Applications, said Cabot, include consumer rubber goods such as toys, childcare items, sporting equipment as well as rubber components in direct contact with food and potable water.
The product is a pelletised reinforcing carbon black that is engineered for end-use rubber products that need a higher reinforcement, strength, abrasion and tearing resistance level than semi-reinforcing carbon blacks, Cabot added.
“Our customers are looking for solutions that comply with regulatory requirements and certifications that are becoming increasingly stringent,” said Bart Kalkstein, SVP and president, reinforcement materials segment, and president, Americas region.
The new addition, he said, gives alternative reinforcing solution that meets “stringent performance needs” and regulatory restrictions.
