Move in response to “unforeseen and unprecedented” energy cost escalations in the region
The Hague, The Netherlands – Synthetic rubber and elastomers manufacturer Arlanxeo is introducing an undisclosed but significant energy surcharge to all its elastomer products manufactured in Europe.
The move is in response to “unforeseen and unprecedented” energy cost escalations in Europe, said Arlanxeo in an announcement 29 Sept.
Effective 1 Oct, the surcharge is applicable to all European produced elastomers, the statement added.
In a written statement to ERJ 6 Oct, an Arlanxeo spokeswoman said the size of the surcharge depended on the elastomer, noting that there would be "significant increases across our portfolio".
"The chemical industry has been facing substantial cost escalation which indeed has led to earlier issued and substantial price increases," said the spokeswoman on previous price increases by Arlanxeo.
