German hose-maker Tristone Flowtech closes US plant

Closure comes less than two years after company opened North Carolina factory
Moorsville, North Carolina – Tristone Flowtech USA has permanently closed its battery and engine cooling hoses manufacturing facility in Moorsville, as part of a move to optimise its global footprint.
In a 27 April note to the North Carolina department of commerce, Tristone said the decision was effective 27 April with a full ramp down and closure of the facility no later than 29 June.
Tristone said it will shift the existing projects to its Delicias facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, within its USMCA footprint, to avoid any delays in delivery to customers.
The German hose-maker said the move toe adjust its manufacturing operations was closure was in support of its “strategic customers’ need” and would help it meet current targets.
Tristone opened the €21-million manufacturing unit in May 2019, saying it would bring it closer to its customers.
In addition to the 16.500-square-metre North Carolina facility, Tristone has 10 existing production plants in Mexico, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, India and China.
The company supplies parts to major OEMS including Ford, General Motors, FiatChrysler, VW and BMW in Mexico.
Tristone Flowtech is specialised in fluid applications in the areas of motor and battery cooling as well as air charge systems.
