Hamburg, Germany – Corrie MacColl, part of Singapore-based natural rubber supplier group Halcyon Agri, has reviewed its sustainable natural rubber supply chain policy to adopt the recently approved framework policy by the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR).
Adopted during GPSNR’s second general assembly in September, the sustainability framework is aligned with the UN Global Compact and is modelled around eight overarching themes.
The themes include commitments to legal compliance, community livelihoods, healthy, functioning ecosystems (including no deforestation), and respecting all human rights.
In a statement 11 Nov, Corrie MacColl said the adoption of the new policy reflected its “continued efforts to partner with stakeholders and the industrial sector to advance the sustainability of the supply chain.”
“Our SNRSCP, first released in November 2018, embeds these new GPSNR policies across,” the natural rubber supplier said.
The company policy, it said, recognises the role of supply chain governance in preserving biodiversity and in ensuring that local communities experience continued economic development.
It looks to protect the rights of workers, land owners and local communities, while promoting responsible land acquisition, Corrie MacColl added.
