Vadodara, India – Three people have been reportedly killed in a fire at an Indian synthetic rubber production plant, in Vadadora, Gujarat, eastern India.
The Indian press said the fire, which broke out at Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) polybutadiene rubber (PBR2) production plant on 28 Nov, killed three “contractual workers” working at the plant.
"The fire was restricted to one section of the plant and timely action by Reliance fire-fighting team helped in quickly extinguishing the fire," India’s NDTV quoted an RIL statement.
RIL is currently investigating the cause of the fire and other parts of the plant continue to work as normal.
Reliance's Relflex elastomer's arms manufactures 80,000 tonnes per year of PBR at its production plant Vadodara, according to the company website.
Marketed under the brand name, Relflex Cisamer, the product is used in a number of applications, including tire treads, tire carcass and sidewalls and conveyor belts.
