Plant near the Hungarian border producing recently launched 38% sustainable tire range
Oradea, Romania - Nokian Tyres plc has started tire deliveries from its new Romanian production facility in Oradea, near the Hungarian border.
The deliveries were made through Nokian Tyres distribution centres to Central European customers and consumers and included winter and all-season tires, said Nokian 28 March.
Among other products, the €650-million plant will produce Nokian’s recently launched Seasonproof 2 range, which includes sizes for modern passenger cars, SUVs and CUVs.
Containing 38% sustainable materials, including renewable, recycled and ISCC+ feedstock, the tires will be supplied to Central and South European consumers by autumn.
This marks Nokina’s first tire in commercial production with a high share of renewable and recycled materials.
Furthermore, the Finnish tire maker said it intends to launch more new products for the region at the Romanian facility.
Nokian opened the ‘zero-emission’ tire production plant in Oradea in September last year and expects the full ramp-up to 6 million units of passenger car tires by 2027.
The facility will primarily serve the Central and South European markets.
