Move part of Chinese group’s plan to optimise overseas industrial network for NR supply
Haikou, China – China’s natural rubber (NR) major Hainan Rubber is optimising its industrial overseas layout, potentially expanding in Lao and Cambodia.
Chairman Wang Hogxiang has been touring the region and held separate meetings with the Laos ministry of agriculture and Cambodian Rubber Association, the group reported 19 March.
During his meeting in Laos, the chairman was introduced to the “many preferential policies” by the government to promote the NR industry and encourage the development of NR planting, processing and trade.
Hainan Rubber added that it plans to apply its capabilities in planting, processing and trade to promote the development of the Lao rubber industry.
“In the future, Hainan Rubber will focus on building standardised rubber plantation demonstration sites to improve the overall level of local NR technology [in Lao],” said its chairman.
During his meeting with the Cambodian rubber officials, Wang Hongxiang discussed the recent influx of investment by tire makers in the country and rising demand for NR.
The purpose of the visit, according to Wang Hongxiang, was to conduct on-site research on the feasibility of building an advanced rubber factory in Cambodia.
