Lu'an City, China – Linglong Tire Co. has started construction work on its seventh tire manufacturing plant in China, according to the official website of Anhui Province.
The group broke ground on the ‘living area and related supporting facilities’ of the project in Lu’an City, said the statement filed 7 March.
To be completed within a year, the ‘Anhui Linglong Tire Co.’ project will deliver a total annual production capacity of 14 million tires once fully operational.
Linglong disclosed its revised plans to build the seventh local facility at the end of 2022, at the time estimating the cost of the project at Yuan5.1 billion (€700 million). (ERJ report)
Production is to encompass 12 million passenger car and light truck radial tires as well as 2 million radial truck and bus tires.
To be located at the Anhui Lu'an High-tech Industrial Park, the facility will also include a “waste tire recycling” unit with the capacity to process 30 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of end-of-life tires.
Of that amount, 10ktpa will be used for tire retreading, while 20ktpa will be used to produce liquid reclaimed rubber and other products, according to previous Linglong announcements.
Linglong has also previously stated that it aims to “fully complete” the plant by March 2029.
The new factory is part of the group’s ambitious ‘7+5’ business strategy, which aims to establish a network of seven plants in China and five globally by 2030.
Linglong currently operates five plants in China – at Zhaoyuan, Dezhou, Liuzhou, Jingmen and Changchun – and has also announced plans to establish a facility in Tongchuan.
