Alternative to traditional concrete relies on 95% waste rubber
Aurora, Colorado – US-based road barrier manufacturer Pretred Inc. says its recycled tire products have passed a standard safety test for road speeds of up to 44mph.
The company’s 'Colorado rubber barrier' line underwent 'manual for assessing safety hardware' (MASH) tests, conducted by Buffalo, New York-based Calspan Corp.
MASH guidelines evaluate crash-related products’ safety performance for vehicle trajectory, occupant risk, and structural adequacy.
Each of Pretred's 8 foot barriers is made from 95% recycled product employing up to 100 tires as feedstock, according to the Aurora-based company.
The Colorado name references the Jersey barrier, the traditional concrete-based road guard commonly used for US road repairs.
“Passing the rigorous process of certification for use on public roadways is a major step forward both for the company and the environment," claimed Pretred CEO Eric Davis.
