Biesterfeld acquires silicones, lubricants distribution business in Singapore

Tat Lee Engineering’s distribution unit works primarily with DuPont and Dow Chemical
Hamburg, Germany – German distributor Biesterfeld has expanded its Asian footprint with the acquisition of the distribution division of Singapore-based Tat Lee Engineering pvt Ltd.
Tat Lee is active in the manufacture and supply of seals and associated sealing products as well as in the distribution of speciality lubricants and high-performance silicone materials, Biesterfeld announced 6 Feb.
In the distribution business, Tat Lee works primarily with the global producers DuPont and Dow Chemical.
Acquired through Biesterfeld subsidiary GME Chemicals, the business will add distribution rights for DuPont’s Molykote lubricants and the Dowsil high-performance silicone materials from Dow.
According to Biesterfeld, Dowsil is primarily silicone-based products specifically designed for the automotive, electronics and lighting industries.
The material provides solutions for performance, protection and manufacturing efficiency.
Key products include thermal management materials, encapsulants and potting compounds, silicone adhesives and sealants, and protective coatings.
Molykote are high performance lubricants and anti-friction coatings, used to reduce friction, wear and corrosion, particularly in the automotive and aerospace industries.
With the takeover, a four-person team from Tat Lee's sales and customer service departments will also move to GME Chemicals.
