Kaluga facility manufactured 2.7 million units of tires last year, according to local authorities
Kaluga, Russia – Cordiant Group has progressed the ramping up of production at the former Continental tire plant in Kaluga which has been renamed as Gislaved.
The facility produced 2.7 million units of passenger car tires, said deputy governor of Kaluga Vladimir Popov in a social media post 4 Feb.
The Gislaved plant, said Popov, "operates efficiently and has integrated a new structure following its rebranding."
Cordiant acquired the facility in May 2023 as Continental existed Russia following the Kremlin’s war against Ukraine.
According to Popov, the plant is “steadily increasing production volumes and expanding its product line.”
The unit ‘overfulfilled’ its production ramp-up by 23%, said the local authority, adding that 220 new tire sizes were also launched last year.
The plant, Popov added, set a ‘record shipment’ of 31,000 tires per day during 2024.
Operational since 2013, the Kaluga facility has a nameplate capacity to produce 3.5 million units per year of passenger car and light truck tires.
