German group reports overall decline in results, due mainly to lower prices, polysilicon volumes
Munich, Germany – Wacker Chemie AG has reported a strong performance within its silicones operations, despite an overall decline in results.
The Munich-based group posted a 7% year-on-year drop in full year earnings (EBITDA) to €770 million, while sales fell 11% to €5.7 billion, according to preliminary figures published 28 Jan.
The group linked the declines mainly to lower prices and “much lower volumes” within its polysilicon segment.
Wacker’s silicones operations, meanwhile, posted a 2% increase in sales compared to 2023, reporting an annual revenue of €2.8 billion.
Earnings for the division is expected to come in at €345 million, marking a 46% increase year over year.
Wacker said the positive development was driven by “an improved product mix, with a significantly higher proportion of speciality products, and better plant utilisation rates.”
