Introduces detachable wheels that enable 'reconfiguration of vehicles'
Seoul – Nexen Tire has unveiled a 'next-generation' concept tire for vehicles of the future, featuring 360-degree omni-wheels.
Designed in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP), the tire introduces “a form of modular public transportation,” said Nexen 13 Jan.
Designed to connect urban centres with surrounding areas, the concept enables “seamless boarding, transferring, and reconfiguration of vehicles using detachable wheels.”
The omni-wheel technology, capable of 360-degree movement, maximises mobility and versatility, Nexen added.
Developed over six months, the tire is on display at the Magok-based “The Nexen UniverCity” expo.
The concept was designed as part of Nexen’s annual concept tire project for automotive and mobility industries.
