Australian Tyre Industry Council, British Tyre Manufacturers’ Association, Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association of India join TIP
Geneva – The Tire Industry Project (TIP) has welcomed the Australian Tyre Industry Council (ATIC), the British Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (BTMA), and the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA) of India as new affiliate members.
The three join the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA), the Japan Automobile Tyre Manufacturers Association (JATMA), the Korea Tire Manufacturers Association (KOTMA), the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) and the US Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA), who were named as affiliate members in January 2023.
According to TIP, affiliate members engage with TIP to strengthen the global tire industry’s issue sensing and engagement, but do not contribute to the governance of the project.
“Tire trade associations are instrumental to the realisation of a sustainable tire value-chain,” said TIP executive director, Larisa Kryachkova 12 Jan.
The associations’ regional expertise and insights, said Kryachkova, are “invaluable in understanding regulatory developments and offering global approaches to tire lifecycle sustainability.”
TIP said that it is actively expanding its membership to continue to deliver upon its mission of “anticipating understanding, and addressing global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues relevant to the tire industry and its value chain.”
TIP was formed in 2005 with the commitment to a science-driven and collaborative approach to tire-sector sustainability.
In February 2022, it updated its sustainability goals to include a renewed mission, an updated governance structure and the active recruitment of new members.
TIP’s members are Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Hankook, Kumho, Michelin, Pirelli, Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Toyo Tires, and Yokohama. TIP is co-chaired by Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, and Michelin.
