New system offers “more stable, environmentally friendly and efficient drive, with low maintenance cost"
Birmingham, Michigan – Chinese e-bike drive systems maker Bafang and Dayco have launched a joint collaboration to advance belt drive products for e-bikes.
The project focused on resource sharing and “collaborative innovation,” leading to the development of a new Dayco system that delivers "a more stable, efficient, and environmentally friendly drive with low maintenance costs."
The belt enables Bafang to achieve a quieter and more efficient system, helping to overall optimise the performance of the Bafang system, said Leo Wang, director of Bafang R&D.
According to Wang, Bafang is set to launch a higher power mid-hub motor using the Dayco belt system.
The cooperation, he added, will be “the beginning of a long-term and close relationship” between the two partners.
For Dayco, working with Bafang and the development of belts for high-power e-bikes, represent a “significant step” in strategy to expand the brand, said Thomas Jauch, Dayco VP and managing director, global belts.
According to the US parts maker, Bafang has made significant advances in the development of high-power systems and has identified belt drive systems as an “avenue for exploration”.
