Guangzhou, China – Wanli Tire Co. has completed an expansion project to increase production capacity for semi-steel passenger car radial tires at its operations in Guangzhou City by 25%.
The tire maker, part of Guangzhou Industrial Control Group, has now increased annual production capacity by 6 million units to 30 million units, said a 27 Dec 2024 announcement.
The Yuan1,086-million (€140 million) 'phase III' project started in January last year and was completed in less than nine months, Wanli added.
Furthermore, construction work on another expansion project has also started to expand capacity by a further 6 million units per year, the tire maker added.
After full ramp-up, production capacity of Wanli's tire manufacturing operations in Guangzhou will, therefore, reach 36 million units per year.
Wanli went on to note that it is accelerating its investment in the production of tires for new-energy vehicles.
Wanli was acquired by Guangzhou Industrial Control Group four years ago and has since doubled production capacity.
Over the four-year period, the tire maker said it produced 100 million tires, representing a compound growth rate of 20% in output value and 200% in total profit.
