Michelin North America mulling $160m expansion project

Lexington, South Carolina – Michelin North America is studying a $159-million (€150 million) expansion project in the US, according to a recent filing by Lexington County Council.

Minutes of a 10 Dec planning meeting show local officials unanimously approved a resolution to enter into talks with Michelin regarding the potential investment in the region.

The contract negotiations, according to the city council, will involve the discussion of a ‘fee agreement’, which typically includes tax incentives for business investments.

Michelin North America operates a passenger car, light truck and earthmover tire production facility in Lexington, with a nameplate capacity of 288,200 tonnes per annum.
