Sumitomo Riko opens rubber bearings factory in Japan

Project part of a broader renovation project at company’s facilities in Komaki, Japan
Nagoya, Japan – Sumitomo Riko has completed the construction of a new rubber bearings production facility in Komaki, Aichi prefecture, Japan, the group has announced.
The factory was built as part of a project to renovate the entire Sumitomo Riko’s Komaki facilities to enhance environmental effects and efficiency at the site.
The facility, set for operation in June 2025, will produce rubber bearings for bridges and housings, said Sumitomo Riko in an 17 Dec statement. environment products
Spanning an area of 162,100 sqm and total floor area of 6,660 sqm, the plant was constructed with an investment of Yen2.7 billion (€17 million).
The factory features solar panels and can generate 700MWh of renewable energy per year, with the potential to export excess energy to other factories at the same site.
In addition, it is the first in the Sumitomo Riko factory to receive ZEB (net zero energy building) certification.
