Started 10 years ago, Chonburi unit key to Chinese tire group's international strategy
Madrid – Linglong Tire has marked the tenth anniversary of its tire manufacturing operation in Chonburi, Thailand – during a 30 Nov global partner conference in Madrid.
Linglong International Tire (Thailand) Co. Ltd, it noted, has reached a production capacity of 17.2 million units/year, encompassing passenger car, light vehicle and truck & bus tires.
Over the decade, the site has shipped over 112 million tires to destinations in North & South America, EMEA and Asia-Pacific, Linglong added in a statement from the partner conference.
According to the group, the plant has also supplied more than 1.4 million tires for OE fitment to global car makers such as Stellantis and Ford.
At present, the operation in Thailand has become “an important profit pillar and strategic high ground for Linglong,” said the Chinese tire maker.
The plant, commented chairman Wang Feng, is a “pioneer factory for Linglong Tire to explore overseas and implement its internationalisation strategy.”
The Linglong leader added that the Thai operations were “an important support” for the group, particularly in supplying to the ASEAN, south Asia and Middle East regions.
