Second factory unit to double production area at existing site in Thailand
Tokyo – Nitta Corp. has expanded its automotive hose and tubing operations in Thailand with the construction of a new manufacturing facility at its existing site in Rayong.
Officially inaugurated on 26 Nov, the new plant is part of Nitta’s “Shift 2030” globalisation strategy and aims to support the automotive and general industries’ demand in the ASEAN region.
Nitta’s original factory in Rayong, spanning an area of 3,600 sq.m, produces pneumatic and hydraulic hoses as well as plastic tubing and fittings for automotive applications.
The new THB140 million (€4 million) unit doubles the production space to 7,200 sq.m and has been operational since July, Nitta reported on 29 Nov.
The new facility follows another expansion move in Asia, as Nitta relocated its hose and rubber components manufacturing plant in South Korea in October.
Intended to support growing trends such as new mobility and the semiconductor industry, Nitta’s new site in Gumi is 2.3 times larger than its previous factory.
The KRW 23 billion (€16 million) facility will produce hoses and polymeric tube systems for the automotive industry, hoses for general industry, as well as fittings for pneumatics and semiconductors.
Nitta also linked the relocation to its “Shift 2030” strategy, which targets “further globalisation" of the hose and tube product business in the mid- to long-term management plan.
