Austrian clean energy supplier Enery to provide zero-CO2 electricity to Oradea factory for 11 years
Nokia, Finland – Nokian Tyres and Vienna-headquartered renewable energy provider Enery have signed a long-term contract for the supply zero-CO2 power to Nokian’s recently commissioned production plant in Oradea, Romania.
Under the deal, Enery will supply zero-emission energy for the new passenger car tire factory for 11 years, starting 2025.
Furthermore, the contract enables Enery to construct a new solar power plant in southern Romania, supporting the European green transition, said Nokian in a 27 Nov statement.
Nokian’s Romanian facility will be operated entirely on non-fossil fuels and is expected to start commercial production in early 2025.
Once fully ramped up, the unit will have the capacity to produce 6 million units of passenger car tires per year.
In the long-term, the agreement supports Nokian’s target to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emission level by 2050, noted SVP for operation excellence Adrian Kaczmarczyk.
The collaboration delivers “meaningful environmental impact” through responsible energy practices, while contributing to Romania’s energy independence, said Severin Vartigov, COO at Enery.
