Fire ‘burns down’ Vietnam factory of rubber parts supplier Hwasung

No loss of life reported but blaze destroys machinery, production area, according to local police
Haiphong, Vietnam – A fire has destroyed a rubber factory in Vietnam, operated by the Korean automotive and industrial rubber parts supplier Dong-A Hwasung.
According to the initial police report, the blaze started just before mid-night on 23 Nov, and was put out by the early hours of the next morning.
Over 1,000 sq.m of production space and machinery were damaged at the Trang Due Industrial Park facility in Hai Phong, said the local police on 24 Nov.
No casualties have been reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Part of the Korean Dong-A Group, Hwasung was established in 1974 and its products include technical rubber goods and non-tire products for cars, home appliances, and industrial applications.
In particular, it specialises in the production of gaskets and rubber hoses as well as outlet hoses for washing machines.
The Vietnam subsidiary has been operational since 2016 and, among other products, manufactures rubber goods for LG which has a large production base in Haiphong, manufacturing home appliances, televisions, and vehicle components.
