Cordiant among 275 individuals and entities supplying ‘advanced technology and equipment’ to Russia
Washington – The US Department of Treasury (DoT) has sanctioned Russian tire maker Cordiant, along with another 274 individuals and entities, for supplying military support to Moscow.
In a 31 Oct decision, the agency said the measures targeted the ‘sprawling’ sanctions evasion and included jurisdictions such as India, China, Switzerland, Thailand and Turkey.
JSC Cordiant, said the DoT, “manufactures rubber products and supplies goods to the Russian military-industrial base.”
Another Russian entity named on the list is Yaroslavsky Experimental Machines Plant, which the US government said “develops and manufactures procurement and assembly equipment for the tire retreading industry.”
The company’s customers include the Russian Ministry of Defence and multiple entities sanctioned by the US, including Tactical Missiles Corp.
Synthetic rubber manufacturer Kauchuka (Aktsionernoe Obschestvo Kazanskii Zavod Sinteticheskogo Kauchuka) which supplies to Russia’s shipbuilding industry, has also been designated by the US government.
India-based Shreegee Impex has also been targeted by the sanctions, as it “openly advertises" its provision of goods to Russian manufacturers, and lists US-designated truck company Kamaz as one of its customers.
Shreegee, said the DoT, has sent “hundreds of high-priority dual-use items, including aviation-related parts, as well as transmission belts and rubber products for automobile assembly, to Russia-based manufacturers.”
