Expansion builds on technology obtained from acquisition of Polymax TPE in December last year
Westlake, Ohio – US-based polymer compounder Geon Performance Solutions has completed a $1.3 million (€1.2 million) expansion and upgrade programme at its facility in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico.
The company has now installed a new thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) manufacturing line at the facility, producing a range of compounds including TPEs and thermoplastic vulcanisates (TPVs).
The plant upgrade will enhance the facility’s formulation, prototyping and sampling services to key markets, Geon reported 12 Nov.
Customers, it said, include automotive original equipment manufacturers and consumer markets.
The expansion builds on Geon’s recent acquisition of Polymax TPE in late 2023 and the subsequent investments in its facility in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Polymax specialises in the production of TPEs and thermoplastic polyolefins (TPOs).
In addition to the US and Mexico, Geon operates another TPE manufacturing unit in Nantong, China.
Geon said the structure enables it to serve customers globally "with a simplified supply chain across a diverse range of industries.”
