Unit makes waterproofing materials, adhesives, and tackifiers, using synthetic rubber latex as main raw materials
Tokyo – JSR Corp. is selling its emulsion business to Nippon Shokubai as part of a wider attempt to spin off its subsidiary Emulsion Technology Co.
Established in 1963, Emulsion Technology currently operates two businesses: the Emulsion business and Fine business, JSR announced 12 Nov.
The Emulsion business manufactures and sells products such as waterproofing materials, adhesives, and tackifiers for construction, civil engineering, and various industries.
It uses synthetic rubber latex and acrylic emulsions as its main raw materials, and utilises JSR’s core emulsion polymerisation technology and compounding technology to combine emulsions and other materials to achieve high functionality.
The Fine business, which will be relaunched as JSR Fine Technology, manufactures raw material polymers for electronic materials and display materials.
The share transfer is scheduled for 1 April 2025.
