Bucharest – The Romanian government has agreed to pay Nokian Tyres Lei495 million (€100 million) in the shape of a grant to support the tire maker’s recently inaugurated facility in Oradea, in the northwest of the country.
The state aid is being provided to Nokian following the authorisation of the European Commission earlier in August and will be available until 1 Sept 2027, announced the government 7 Nov.
Nokian opened its €650-million ‘zero-emission’ greenfield tire production facility in Oradea in September with the aim to primarily serve the Central European market. (ERJ report)
The Oradea factory is part of the Finnish tire maker’s ‘new Nokian’ vision after its exit from Russia in 2023, which envisages a net sales of €2 billion group-wide in the near future.
