Portfolio to include range of mouldable silicones, polyurethanes, latex and thermoplastic elastomers.
Hamburg, Germany – Biesterfeld Performance Rubber has recently signed a deal with US materials supplier Polytek Development Corp. for the supply of the company’s rubber materials in Europe.
Based in Easton, Penssylvania, Polytek manufactures of speciality polymers for mould making and casting applications in the industrial and consumer goods sectors.
With immediate effect, Biesterfeld will market the rubber product lines in Europe, with the exception of the UK, said the company 14 Oct.
The products, said the German distributor, are suitable for mould making applications in sectors such as medicine, construction and restoration as well as product design and manufacturing.
The portfolio includes a range of “complementary silicone types, polyurethanes, latex and thermoplastic elastomers,” Biesterfeld added.
The products have a hardness of Shore 00-20 to 80 Shore D and are particularly characterised by their “good flowability, heat and chemical resistance and the possibility of pigmentation.”
These properties allow them to be used in a variety of applications, particularly in mould making.
According to Biesterfeld, Polytek materials serve an important application in the medical field, offering a colour and texture that enable replicating the human skin.
Other areas of application include prosthetics, special effects and theater masks, and fine art (sculptures of various appearances).
The German distributor said it would be ‘significantly expanding’ its portfolio with Polytek's solutions.
