All-steel radial tires produced at the Central Java factory destined for local and international markets
Semarang, Indonesia – Zhongce Rubber Group (ZC Rubber) has rolled out the first tire produced at its greenfield production facility in the Central Java city of Semarang.
ZC Rubber broke ground on the 500,000m2 factory in February but, at the time, did not provide details about the capacity, size of investment or the types of tires to be produced. (ERJ report)
In a 24 Oct statement, the Chinese group said the Indonesian subsidiary, Matahari Tire Indonesia (MTI), had produced its first 'all-steel radial truck tire'.
Built in less than 10 months, the factory is equipped with “cutting-edge digital technology and staffed by a highly skilled workforce,” according to ZC Rubber.
Still in the ramp-up phase, the plant will supply tires to both the local and international markets, including the US, the Chinese group added.
With the phase II construction now underway, ZC Rubber said it "plans to further enhance production capacity and deepen its presence in international markets.”
In response to ERJ's enquiry 24 Oct, ZC Rubber said: "At this moment, we are not able to share specific details about the plant’s production capacity [or] the phase II development."
