System enables enhanced process control: lowering weight of tire compounds and waste levels...
Epe, The Netherlands – VMI has cited collaborative work with Pirelli, including around the introduction of UNIXX technology, as key to it gaining a 'supplier of the year' award from the Italian tire maker. (ERJ report)
The award for process innovation recognised “collaboration between VMI and Pirelli in developing new processes that address current challenges in tire manufacturing,” said the Dutch group.
In particular, the tire machinery & systems major noted the role of its UNIXX technology platform (ERJ report) in delivering “a high degree of flexibility whilst enhancing the quality of high performance tires.”
Enhanced process control, explained VMI's 14 Oct release, lowers the weight of tire compounds and waste levels: improving sustainability while reducing both production and end-product costs.
The ‘driving excellence together’ trophy was presented by Pirelli’s CEO Andrea Casaluci, chief purchasing officer Luca Galantina and head of engineering and industrial projects Alessandro Vergani.
Accepting the award, president & CEO Harm Voortman said recognition was “testimony to VMI’s commitment to develop cutting edge technology to support the tire industry with innovative solutions.”
