Kraft lignin said to offer a sustainable alternative to other chemical additives and fossil-based antioxidants
Shanghai, China – Chinese rubber chemicals maker Ningbo Actmix Rubber Chemicals has signed an agreement to commercialise the use of Suzano Ecolig in its rubber products.
The deal was signed at a forum for local government officials, customers, academics, and business experts from industries including rubber, bio-fuel, textile and construction, Suzano said 24 Sept.
A kraft lignin produced from “responsibly-grown” eucalyptus, Ecolig offers a sustainable alternative to other chemical additives and fossil-based antioxidants, according to the pulp production major.
The product, it said, is currently used to prevent oxidation and enhance the performance of rubber in a range of applications, including moulded goods, retreaded tires, conveyor belts, and shoe soles.
During the forum, Suzano also signed two further partnership agreements with Fudan University and Insper-Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa, a Brazilian private, non-profit university respectively.
“The expansion of the Ecolig business in Asia through strategic partnerships is an important step,” according to Victor Hugo, sales & marketing manager for Suzano’s Bioproducts business.
The approach, he said, “paves the way for Suzano to better serve sustainable businesses in different segments, effectively supporting the growth of the bioeconomy.”
