Celanese expands Chinese centre to support elastomers R&D

Shanghai, China – Celanese Corp. has expanded its Asia Technology Centre (ATC) in Shanghai to support industries such as automotive, clean energy and emerging markets.
The expanded facility will support the group’s acetyl chain and engineered materials businesses markets such as electric vehicles, 5G, clean energy, construction and adhesives, Celanese said 8 Oct.
The ATC, it said, has been equipped with “industry-leading” facilties for product development, material design, colour-matching, processing, advanced analytics and part design & testing.
The centre, it added, includes a “unique” NVH lab, data-acceptance programme lab and a “comprehensive" elastomer processing unit, which can speed up new-product development, validation and delivery.
“Asia is a growing market for our engineered materials business and the expanded ATC will bring innovative solutions to support the fast-paced development of the Asia and global markets,” said Stefan Kutta, VP automotive at Celanese.
