German rail components supplier to provide over 1,000 transitions for major commuter train project
Berlin – German rail and bus components manufacturer Huebner Group has been awarded a contract by Siemens Mobility for the supply of rubber gangway systems for new commuter trains in Munich, Germany.
Signed during the InnoTrans Berlin expo last month, the order initially includes 1,080 gangways with an option for a further 1,080 units in the future, Huebner said 9 Oct.
The Munich S-Bahn trains are scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2028 with Siemens Mobility supplying 90 vehicles - each of which is 202 metres long and has space for 1,841 passengers.
Each train consists of 13 carriages and can replace 1,500 cars during rush hour.
In addition to the S-Bahn deal, which has been described as one of Huebner’s “largest single orders”, the two companies also agreed to work together on another undisclosed European project.
The project initially involves producing 200 gangways for the Siemens Mireo electric multiple unit with an option to increase the order by 1,350 more.
