Japanese synthetic rubber supplier introduced previous round of price increases in May
Tokyo - Tosoh Corp. has announced a new increase in prices for its polychloroprene rubber products, effective 16 Sept.
The price revision on all grades of ‘Skyprene’ branded rubber will see add Yen60/kg to the current price of these materials, the Japanese supplier said 6 Aug*.
Tosoh linked the price rise to increasing manufacturing costs, particularly a recent increase in the price of butadiene monomer.
Manufacturing costs, said Tosoh, have risen “far beyond the limits of our self-help efforts, making it extremely difficult to ensure business profitability.”
The price increase will help continue the business and maintain a stable supply of the product for the future, its statement added.
The decision marks the second time Tosoh has raised prices for its chloroprene rubber products in recent months.
In May, the Japanese producer introduced varying price increases across its different grade of the high-performance elastomer. (ERJ report)
