Manufacturing plant in Sihanoukville hits ‘a new high’ in production in June
Sihanoukville, Cambodia – Jiangsu General Technology Co. (General Science) has reported a “momentum of strong production and sales” since January at its Sihanoukville tire plant.
Demand for tires from the Cambodian factory from customers in the US, Europe and other parts of the world, “continues to rise,” General Science reported in a 6 July statement.
In June, monthly production capacity hit a “new high,” with the manufacture of over 510,000 passenger car radial (PCR) tires and 75,000 truck & bus radial (TBR) tires, said Tao Guozhong, head of General Science Cambodia.
In order to meet the increasing market demand, Tao said the factory in Sihanoukville is working overtime and delivering goods “day and night.”
The Cambodian facility is the Chinese tire group’s second overseas plant and has been operating since May last year.
The facility currently has capacity to produce 5 million units of PCR tires and 900,000 TBR tires per year.
In February, General Science broke ground on a €180-million expansion of the site, slated to add annual capacity for 3.5 million units of PCRs and 750,000 TBRs.
In its latest release, General Science said it had actively implemented a “localisation strategy” and established close cooperative relations with local universities and enterprises in Cambodia.
At the same time, the operation has joined forces with “internationally renowned raw material suppliers and leading customers” to improve product R&D and manufacturing.
