Move in line with Jaguar Land Rover's strategy for ‘responsible sources and traceability’
Gaydon, UK – Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is fitting its vehicles with Pirelli’s FSC certified* tires, the UK-based automotive vehicle manufacturer announced 11 July.
Pirelli, it said, will supply the tires containing certified natural rubber 'and rayon', for use across JLR vehicles: starting with the new Range Rover Electric.
Claiming the development as an ‘industry first’, the OEM said it was leading the way in adopting FSC certified tires “at scale.”
The programme to transition all tires from Pirelli across its entire portfolio will cover over 250,000 tires per year, added the JLR statement.
The collaboration is part of JLR’s ‘reimagine’ strategy, which commits the car maker to responsible sourcing, via sustainable natural rubber production and supply-chain traceability.
In addition to FSC?certified tires, Pirelli and JLR are working together to increase the percentage of sustainable and recycled content of all tires supplied to JLR, the car maker added.
*The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-custody certification process verifies that FSC certified material has been identified and separated from non?certified material. The certification applies to the entire supply-chain, from the plantations to the end-product manufacture.
