Significant growth in exhibitor and visitor numbers, greater ‘internationality’, major focus on sustainability
Cologne, Germany – The Tire Cologne 2024 organiser KoelnMesse reported a “very good result” for the expo: with 430 exhibitors from 35 countries and around 14,400 participants from 109 countries attending.
Around 65% of visitors came from abroad, mostly from Italy, The Netherlands, The UK and France, but also increasingly from eastern Europe, such as Poland and Romania.
International trade visitors from China, the US and the Middle East were also “strongly represented,” according to KoelnMesse’s 6 June report.
"The success of the trade fair is a clear signal that a strong trade fair is indispensable for the industry,” commented Stefan Helm, chairman of the German Tyre Retail and Vulcanisation Trade Association (BRV).
“Here is where the important themes are discussed and the foundation for the business success of the future is laid", Helm added in the press statement.
The expo was “full of positive energy from day one and clearly showed how important this stage is for establishing and expanding business relationships," added Oliver Frese, chief operating officer of Koelnmesse.
According to the release, this year's The Tire Cologne was “entirely defined” by sustainability and the responsible use of resources, with nearly all exhibitors emphasising the importance of environmental issues.
“Themes like the conservation of resources or re- and upcycling played a decisive role for many innovations of the exhibitors: proof that the tire industry can no longer be imagined without the circular economy,” it said.
An example of this commitment was the signing at the expo of a ‘used tire resolution’ – an initiative of the Allianz Zukunft Reifen to promote sustainable handling of used and new tires.
