Move in response to ‘severe drought’ which is currently impacting much of Mexico
Wilmington, Delaware – Chemours Co. has announced a temporary halt in the production of titanium dioxide (TiO2) at its production facility in Altamira, Mexico.
The move is in response to a “severe drought impacting much of Mexico” and in compliance with a government request to minimise water intake, said Chemours 1 June.
In terms of supply to customers, Chemours said it is working closely with government, business, and community partners to identify and implement short-and long-term solutions.
The company said it is currently unable to predict the duration of the production suspension due to the uncertainty of the factors outside of its control.
