Based in the Le Marche region of Italy, Tecnofilm's portfolio includes functionalised compounds based on elastomers
Milan, Italy – Versalis SpA has acquired 100% ownership of Tecnofilm, a family-owned compounder based in the eastern Italian region of Le Marche.
Tecnofilm manufactures functionalised polyolefins and thermoplastic compounds based on plastics and elastomers, said Versalis. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquired company mainly supplies to the footwear and technical goods industries, the Italian group added in a 15 April announcement.
Founded in 1972, Tecnofilm has made “continuous investment” in equipment and R&D to expand its product portfolio to cover a “wider range of compounds and functional polymers.”
According to Versalis, in 2016 Tecnofilm became a member of ‘Elite’, an international platform created by Borsa Italiana to promote the growth of “outstanding companies.”
“The acquisition of Tecnofilm further strengthens Versalis' business specialisation strategy,” Versalis CEO Adriano Alfani said in the release.
The acquisition, added Alfani, offers opportunities to “expand and specialise” product portfolio by integrating downstream supply-chain activities in elastomer-based compounding.
In particular, the Versalis leader said the purchase would help to improve the group's materials portfolio for industrial and footwear applications.
In 2021, Versalis strengthened its presence in the industrial and fashion & footwear sectors with the acquisition of Italian compounder Finproject. (ERJ report)
The purchase of Tecnofilm, according to Alfani, will be “highly complementary” to the group's strategy in those markets.
