Acquired UKI Media to be “cornerstone” of future transport & infrastructure unit at CloserStill...
London - CloserStill Media Group has highlighted its ambitions having recently acquired UKI Media & Events (UKI), which includes Tire Technology Expo within its portfolio of B2B industry events.
At a 1 March press-club meeting* in London, Simon Press, senior portfolio director, said the acquisition would extend CloserStill’s current range of events, which cover the global technology, healthcare and retail industries.
Press, for instance, highlighted CloserStill’s technology portfolio, which includes Tech Show London, Tech Show Frankfurt, Tech Show Paris, Madrid Tech Show, and Tech Week Singapore.
Dorking, UK-based UKI organises B2B events across the US, Europe and Asia serving the automotive, aerospace, marine, transport and infrastructure sectors.
At CloserStill, UKI is to “form the cornerstone” of a new ‘future transport & infrastructure’ unit: providing significantly expanded reach in North America, Europe and Asia.
On finalising the acquisition last September, CloserStill said UKI had “entered a next phase of development in areas including “sustained innovation [and] collaboration.”
CloserStill filings show that Tony Robinson, founder of UKI Media & Events and CEO of the business for more than 30 years, ceased to be a ‘person with significant control’ at UKI in August 2023.
Robinson, however, remains chairman of UKI, according to current information on the UKI website, while CloserStill said the acquired business and its 90-strong workforce are to remain based in Dorking.
With around 450 employees, London-headquartered CloserStill claims to be the fastest-growing exhibition organiser in Europe and other international markets.
CloserStill reported record revenues for 2022 of more than $120m, representing organic growth of 15% compared to 2019 and 40% including turnover from acquisitions.
Most of CloserStill’s revenues are said to be recorded internationally, via hubs in New York and Singapore, as well as operations across continental Europe and North America.
