Singapore – The Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), which was formerly operating under the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), has registered as an independent entity.
Effective 31 Dec 2023, GPSNR operates as a “matured organisation” with a membership base of 255 stakeholders, said the organisation 1 Feb announcement.
As a new entity, GPSNR will operate autonomously, pursuing its “mission of fostering social, economic, and environmental sustainability in the natural rubber value-chain.”
"Our spin-off from WBCSD is a testament to our maturity and growth,” according to Stefano Savi, director of the Singapore-based organisation.
The move, he added, will allow GPSNR to “operate independently, leveraging our substantial membership base for a more sustainable natural rubber supply chain.”
GPSNR was initiated by WBCSD’s Tire Industry Project in 2018 and has since become a “credible platform” for NR sustainability, according to WBCSD EVP Dianne Holdorf.
'With strong support from its wide range of stakeholders, the platform has "a unique focus on the multi-sector engagement necessary to drive transformation," said Holdorf.
GPSNR is well-positioned to create real change for small-holder farmers, ecosystems, companies, and customers,” she concluded.
