Trelleborg opens sealing solutions plant in Vietnam
Factory to produce O-rings, moulded components and plate heat exchanger gaskets
Long Thanh, Vietnam – Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (TSS) has opened a new production factory in Long Thanh, strengthening its presence and product-offering in Asia.
Spanning 86,000 square feet, the Vietnam facility will produce O-rings, custom-designed engineered moulded parts and plate heat exchanger gaskets, the Swedish company said 4 Dec.
The “multi-million-dollar” unit taps 'state-of-the-art' compression and injection moulding technology, enabling the processing of a broad range of elastomer materials.
With sustainability features, such as solar panels and wastewater treatment facilities, TSS said the unit is “strategically located” near Ho Chi Minh City and major ports.
The Long Thanh facility "is a key part of our strategy to increase our manufacturing footprint in Asia,” commented TSS president Gordon Micallef.
The unit, added Micallef, will serve fast-growing automotive and industrial markets in Vietnam and elsewhere in Asia, as well as Europe and North America.
“It enhances our support to customers in the region, who are increasingly seeking local suppliers to increase supply-chain security and sustainability," he also noted.
In 2021, Trelleborg launched a €30-million investment programme, with the aim of building ‘fully owned’ factories in Japan, Vietnam and Morocco – as well as Russia, from which Trelleborg has since withdrawn. (ERJ report)
