First ‘giant tire’ roll-off at Sailun Vietnam plant
Company claims to be first Chinese manufacturer to produce PCR, TBR and OTR tires in Vietnam
Go Dau, Vietnam – Sailun Tire has rolled off the first ‘giant tire’ at its Vietnamese manufacturing facility in Go Dau, Tay Ninh province, the company has announced.
The Chinese tire maker celebrated the milestone as well as its 21st anniversary during a ceremony the Go Dau plant 18 Nov, according to a company statement.
Sailun unveiled its Yuan3 billion (€383 million) ‘phase 3’ expansion project at the Vietnam factory in 2021 and started construction work on the off-road production line just under a year ago.
Overall, the project will add capacity for the production of 3 million units of passenger car tires, 1 million units of truck/bus tires and 50,000 tonne off-the-road tires.
The investment, said the tire maker, makes Sailun the “first Chinese tire company to have a full range of PCR, TBR and OTR tire manufacturing capabilities overseas”.
Marking the first giant tire production in Vietnam, the project is now complete, having undergone “on-site installation and debugging” as well as product trial production.
It has now “officially entered the mass production stage,” Sailun added.
Last November, Sailun issued Yuan2 billion (€280 million) worth of A-share convertible bonds to support its ongoing projects overseas.
Of the amount, Yuan1.4 billion was earmarked for its expansion project in Vietnam while another Yuan600 million was allocated to support capacity expansion in Svay Rieng, Cambodia.
