Indoor testing facility to bolster capacity for controlled snow and ice testing all year round...
Alvsbyn, Sweden – Arctic Falls Proving Grounds is expanding in Sweden with a new indoor winter testing facility set for launch in 2024.
The investment in the “state-of-the-art” site is in response to “consistently high demand, with our schedules nearly booked to capacity”, said the company in a 29 Aug statement.
The facility, currently under construction in Alvsbyn, in northeastern Sweden, is claimed to enhance Arctic Falls’ capabilities, while “providing more space and more opportunities” for clients to explore new ways of testing.
Spanning 7,600 square metres, the site will bolster capacity for controlled snow and ice testing all year round.
Partially powered by solar panels, the facility has double workshops, snow production and storage and is in “close vicinity to other proving grounds”, said Arctic Falls.
“By providing a third controlled climate environment, we're empowering our clients with enhanced conditions for year-round testing and development,” said the announcement.
The new facility, according to Arctic Falls, bears “a striking resemblance” to the company’s Pitea location and will serve as a hub for “comprehensive testing services”.
As the automotive industry's sustainability goals resonate throughout the value chain, the year-round winter-climate testing will play as a “vital contributor”, said CEO Jonas Jalar.
“By offering a platform for our clients to expedite their sustainability targets, we're propelling the transition towards greener practices,” he added.
Among other services, Arctic Falls provides tire testing, offering "objective" non-certification tire testing for clients.
