German polymers company names technology office Thorsten Dreier for ‘labour director’ role
Leverkusen, Germany – Covestro AG has named Christian Baier as its new chief financial officer (CFO), to replace Dr Thomas Toepfer who is leaving the company 31 Aug.
The appointment will be effective 1 Oct, with CEO Markus Steilemann to act as CFO during the month of September, Covestro announced 21 Aug.
Baier joins Covestro from international wholesaler Metro AG, where he has been serving as CFO since 2016.
"Christian Baier is an accomplished top manager with a longstanding experience in the capital markets,” said chairman of supervisory board Dr Richard Pott.
As part of his mandate, Baier will be “actively involved in shaping Covestro’s transformation to the circular economy and in the implementation of our sustainable future strategy."
In addition, the German polymers maker has given chief technology officer Dr Thorsten Dreier an extra role as ‘labour director’, effective 1 Sept.
Dreier, commented Covestro's chairman, “will be shaping the future of Covestro and its employees in his additional role as the new labor director.”
