Sharing expertise in synthetic rubber production with Qingdao University and other institutes in China
Qingdao, China - Arlanxeo has extended its long-term partnership with Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST), marking the 19th consecutive year of bilateral cooperation.
Under the partnership, Arlanxeo supports the faculty and its students with technical expertise in synthetic rubber, said Dr Herman Dikland, chief technology and sustainability officer.
The link-up with QUST is also helping to “accelerate the pace of innovation in the rubber industry,” according to the Arlanxeo executive.
Over the past decade, the partners have initiated collaborative projects, including open-day events, scholarships, innovation research projects and technical lectures.
Under the newly extended partnership, Arlanxeo will deliver advanced classes for engineers: sharing insights into rubber industrialisation and advanced process technologies.
In addition, the partners will launch new scientific projects relating to synthetic rubber production technology, said Arlanxeo in a 12 June statement.
The collaboration aims to ‘develop young talents for the rubber industry’, according to Hong Sun, managing director at Arlanxeo China.
“Through the continued partnership with QUST, we will play an important role in developing the next generation of innovative rubber engineers,” he added.
Arlanxeo also runs partnerships with other Chinese institutes, including Changzhou University, Changzhou Vocational Institute of Engineering, and the South China University of Technology in China.
A signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding extending the agreement between Arlanxeo and QUST was held at the university's school of polymer science and engineering.
The ceremony was attended by Kezheng Chen, principal of QUST, Wanxiang Lv, member of the standing committee of the party committee and vice principal of QUST, Dr. Herman Dikland, chief technology and sustainability officer, Arlanxeo, and Dr. Baojia Cheng, head of TSAD, Asia, Arlanxeo.
